STRAX Reach · SMS, email and voice

Email in the same conversation as every other channel

Reach sends email through the account or provider you already use, brings replies back into the client's conversation and marks a message failed when the provider reports a bounce.

Part of Reach
  • SMTP or a provider API
  • Three inbound services
  • Reply threading and bounces

Mail that stays with the client

One setting chooses how mail leaves: the SMTP account configured in STRAX, or the Postmark, SendGrid or Mailgun API from a sender you verified there. Every provider send carries a Message-ID that Reach creates itself, so replies thread the same way whichever provider carried the original.

Replies arrive through Postmark's inbound service, SendGrid Inbound Parse or a Mailgun route. Postmark and SendGrid calls carry a token on the address and Mailgun calls are signed. Reach threads each reply by the original message id first, then by the plus address, and opens a new conversation only when neither matches.

Provider event webhooks close the loop on delivery. A hard bounce or a dropped message turns the matching Reach message from sent to failed with the provider's reason, and your applications hear about it through the usual failure callback.

Email is where formal promises get made, so it matters that the reply lands next to the chat that led to it. Reach files every sent and received email on the client's conversation, with the subject kept as the message title.

Long-running cases such as refunds, disputes or account closures often run for weeks. Keeping every email beside the chats and calls around it gives a supervisor the full story when a client escalates or a regulator asks for records.

Where it helps

Formal notices

Send account changes and terms updates by email while the client's questions come back into the same thread.

Refund correspondence

Handle refund requests end to end by email, with each step on the client record.

Business clients

Serve corporate clients who expect email, next to your chat channels.

Dispute evidence

Collect chargeback evidence from merchants by email, with every attachment request and answer kept against the dispute's client.

What you need

  • An SMTP account or a provider

The STRAX email settings, or a Postmark server, SendGrid account or Mailgun domain with a verified sender.

  • An inbound service

Postmark inbound, SendGrid Inbound Parse or a Mailgun route, for replies.

  • A public HTTPS address

For the inbound and delivery event webhooks.

  • Reach Core 1.1

Threading needs the conversation hint that Core 1.1.0 accepts.

Good to know

Replies thread best when clients answer an email Reach sent. Attachments on incoming mail are not stored yet, and spam complaints are logged without opting the client out.

Questions

Can we use SendGrid or Mailgun for replies?

Yes, SendGrid Inbound Parse and Mailgun routes post multipart forms, which the platform now accepts, and each has its own inbound workflow in this package.

Which provider sends our mail?

The one named in the email provider setting. Leave it on smtp to keep your current account, or switch to Postmark, SendGrid or Mailgun per environment.

What is still missing?

Stored attachments, signature checks for SendGrid and Postmark webhooks, and a reply-to header with the plus address on SMTP mail.

What if a client writes to us without replying to an earlier email?

Reach starts a new conversation for that client when the sender address is known, and holds the message for review when it is not.

Can agents send from a shared address such as support?

Messages leave from the account configured in the STRAX email settings, so a shared support address keeps replies coming back to the same inbox that Postmark reads.

What happens on install

After the import, and only with your consent, the installer runs:

Security screening. This bundle carries executable workflow steps. These flags are recomputed server-side from the actual package contents (they are never taken from the author), and STRAX asks for your explicit consent before installing executable content.
