STRAX Reach · Team and community chat
A Google Chat app that talks with your clients one to one
Merchants and corporate clients on Google Workspace can add your Chat app and message your team directly. Reach checks that each event really comes from Google and answers in the same direct message.
- Google-signed events
- Your own Chat app
- Direct messages only
Verified by Google, answered by your team
Google signs every event it sends to a Chat app with a token issued for your Cloud project. Reach checks the issuer, the signature and the project number before a single field is read, so a forged call cannot place a fake message in a client conversation.
Direct messages to the app are filed in the client's conversation with the message text and sender. Messages in shared spaces and group chats are left alone, which keeps account conversations out of rooms where colleagues are listening.
Answers go back through the Chat API as the app, using a service account key kept in the credential vault. Every reply carries its own message identifier, so a retried send never shows up twice in the client's chat.
Where it helps
Merchant account managers
A corporate merchant asks about a settlement batch from Google Chat and the account team answers with the payout history on screen.
Treasury questions
Finance staff at a client company check on a bulk payout without leaving their workspace.
Partner onboarding
New resellers ask onboarding questions in a direct chat and the partner desk tracks every answer.
What you need
-
A Google Cloud project
With the Google Chat API enabled and the app configured for direct messages.
-
A service account key
Stored in the credential vault together with the project number.
-
A public HTTPS address
Google delivers the app's events to it.
-
Reach Core
Holds the conversations and the console where your team replies.
Good to know
The app answers people who have written to it first; starting a new direct message with a client needs user authorisation and is planned. Cards and buttons are not used yet.
Questions
Who can find the app?
You choose the people, groups or domains that see it in the Chat API configuration, so it can stay limited to named client organisations.
Does it read space conversations?
No messages from spaces or group chats are filed. Only direct messages with the app become Reach conversations.
How is this different from the Google Chat space package?
The space package posts team notices into one space, while this app holds private conversations with individual clients.
How does a client link their account?
They send the link code from your portal as a message to the app.
