Viber bot conversations in Reach
Where your clients live on Viber, a Reach bot answers them from the same console and records as every other channel.
- Viber bot chats
- Signed callbacks
- Chat link codes
One bot for your Viber-first markets
Viber signs every callback with your bot's authentication token. Reach checks the signature header, reads the Viber user id and files the message against the client who owns it.
Replies go out through the Viber REST API under the sender name you choose, so clients see your brand in the chat list and can reply at any time.
The bot identifies each subscriber by a Viber user id that stays the same for your bot. Link codes connect that id to a client, after which alerts and replies reach the right record without asking the client for a phone number.
Diaspora communities frequently rely on Viber to stay in touch with family abroad. Payment companies serving remittance corridors can meet recipients on that familiar app while keeping identity checks and records under their own control.
Where it helps
Balance alerts
Send prepaid balance and expiry alerts to Viber users and handle their replies in Reach.
Agent support
Agents pick up Viber questions in the same queue as WhatsApp and email.
New market launches
Open a channel for a country where Viber leads without changing how your team works.
Remittance notifications
Tell recipients that money sent from abroad is ready for collection, and answer their questions about identification.
What you need
-
A Viber bot
Created with a Viber business account, which issues the authentication token.
-
The authentication token
Entered twice in Reach: once to send and once to check signatures.
-
A public HTTPS address
Viber delivers callbacks to a registered webhook.
-
Reach Core
The records and console the bot files into.
Good to know
Check the first live callback after setup. A signature mismatch shows up as rejected calls, which is the safe way round, and points to a token entered in only one place.
Questions
Can the bot start conversations?
The bot can message people who have subscribed to it. Link codes connect a subscriber to their client record.
Which sender name do clients see?
The name you set in the Reach settings for the channel.
What is still missing?
Rich media and keyboards; text messages are supported.
What happens when a client unsubscribes from the bot?
Viber stops delivering to them, the send is marked failed with the reason, and your team can reach the client on another channel from the same record.
