STRAX Reach · Messaging apps
WhatsApp for client conversations, through the Cloud API
Clients message your WhatsApp Business number and the conversation lands in Reach next to their email, SMS and chat history, where your team answers it.
- Two-way text and documents
- Approved templates
- wa.me link codes
Your business number, connected to every client record
Reach connects to the WhatsApp Business Platform through Meta's Cloud API. Inbound messages are checked against Meta's signature, matched to a client by their WhatsApp number and filed in that client's open conversation. Replies from your team or your systems go back through the same number.
Because WhatsApp only accepts free-form replies within 24 hours of the client's last message, Reach also sends approved template messages. Your systems queue a template with its variables, and Reach delivers it whenever the window has closed, so a first message or a late follow-up still arrives.
Admission rules decide who may write. In link mode, a stranger's first message is held and answered once with instructions to connect their account, so agents only ever see clients they can identify. Opted-out numbers are refused before anything is sent.
Where it helps
Payment confirmations
Confirm a card or EFT payment the moment your ledger records it, with the reference the client needs if they phone in later.
Failed debit follow-up
Tell a client their debit order bounced and offer the ways to settle it, then keep the whole exchange on their record for the collections team.
Statements on request
A linked client asks for a statement and receives the PDF in the same chat, generated from your own reporting.
Agent handover
Routine questions stay with your systems; anything that needs judgement moves to an agent who sees the full history first.
What you need
-
A Meta business app
A Meta for Developers app with the WhatsApp product and a verified business phone number.
-
A permanent access token
A System User token with the WhatsApp messaging and management permissions, stored in the STRAX credential vault.
-
A public HTTPS address
Meta delivers inbound messages to a webhook, so the install needs one address the internet can reach.
-
Reach Core
The channel builds on the Reach Core package, which holds the contacts, conversations and the team console.
Good to know
WhatsApp accepts free-form text only within 24 hours of the client's last message. Outside that window Reach sends approved template messages, which you create and get approved in WhatsApp Manager first.
Questions
Can we write to a client who has never messaged us?
Yes, with an approved template. Meta requires a template for the first message and for anything sent after the 24-hour window closes.
How do clients link their WhatsApp number to their account?
Your portal or app asks Reach for a link code and shows the client a wa.me link that carries it. When the client sends it, Reach ties that number to their record.
What is still missing?
Template buttons with dynamic web links and media headers need the full components form for now, and delivery receipts are recorded as sent or failed only.
Can our own systems send without an agent?
Yes, your applications queue messages through the Reach application interface, and the same record shows what went out and whether WhatsApp accepted it.
